Purseat, designed by David L, is a game-changer in the world of child safety seats. It offers the unique combination of a safety seat, travel bed, booster cushion, and purse in one device. For parents looking to eliminate the hassle of lugging around heavy safety seats, Purseat is the answer.
What sets Purseat apart is its compact and foldable design. It complies with the European Safety Regulation (ECE R44) and folds to the size and shape of a purse. This makes it incredibly easy to use on planes, in rental cars or taxis. When stored away, it occupies the space of a purse, saving parents from the need to spend money on a rented car seat.
But Purseat is not just about convenience. It is a multi-functional device that provides convenient protection for children on trips. Whether it's used as a safety seat in a vehicle, a comfortable travel bed, or a booster cushion, Purseat ensures that children are safe and comfortable wherever they go.
The realization of Purseat involved a team of engineers from the impact test lab and the safety seat factory, young parents, and salespeople in baby product shops. The first prototype was designed based on safety regulations and the team's concept and experience. Feedback from young parents helped improve the design, reducing the plastic without compromising safety. This not only made the seat more environmentally friendly but also lighter in weight.
The technical specifications of Purseat are as follows: it measures 19cm x 36cm x 40cm and weighs approximately 6.5kg. These dimensions make it compact and easy to carry, without compromising on safety.
Purseat was born out of extensive research among young parents who use safety seats daily. The study revealed that 84% of parents complained about the heavy weight of traditional seats, 92% about the cost of renting a safety seat, and 98% about the large size. These findings highlighted the need for a compact seat, especially for trips and small cars. To ensure safety was not compromised, a specialist from the impact test lab was involved in the design process.
The biggest challenge in creating Purseat was reducing its size and weight while meeting safety regulations. However, the team overcame this obstacle and the seat passed the safety tests in August 2017, obtaining the necessary certifications.
Purseat has received recognition for its innovative design. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Baby, Kids, and Children's Products Design category in 2018. This prestigious award acknowledges well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements.
Purseat, with its compact and convenient design, is revolutionizing travel for parents and children. It provides the perfect solution for those looking to simplify their journeys while ensuring the safety and comfort of their little ones.
